The transition of all HIPAA covered entities from the use of ICD9CM to ICD10CM/PCS codes on October 1, 2015 will create a paradigm change in the use of electronic health record (EHR) data. Many public health surveillance entities that receive, interpret, analyze, and report ICD9 encoded data will be significantly impacted by the transition. Is your jurisdiction ready? Do you have a plan in place?
This webinar will provide an opportunity to learn what other jurisdictions have done to prepare their jurisdictions’ systems, alter business processes, and train workforce personnel in the use of ICD-10 CM codes for surveillance. Sarah Brooks, ICD-10 Implementation Project Manager from the North Carolina Department of Health will provide an overview of the NC DPH’s ICD-10 Implementation Planning activities and “and Dave Swenson from the State of New Hampshire will provide a syndromic surveillance system planning focus to prepare for this big change.
By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to…
· Describe North Carolina’s ICD-10 Implementation Plan.
· Describe New Hampshire’s statewide syndromic surveillance system ICD-10 implementation activities.
